Brown Hom Mali Jasmine Rice is premium Thai Hom Mali (KDML 105) that has been hulled but not polished, leaving the nutrient-rich bran layer on the grain. The result keeps the floral 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline aroma buyers associate with Thai jasmine rice while delivering the fibre, B vitamins, magnesium and natural oils that milling removes. It is the fastest-growing wholegrain category in Western retail and in health-focused Asian markets such as Japan, where brown rice is sold as genmai. Because the bran layer contains natural oils, brown Hom Mali has a shorter shelf life than white rice and is best shipped and sold as current-crop stock.

Long, slender grains with an intact light-brown bran layer. Cooked grains are firmer and chewier than white jasmine, with a nutty flavour carried over the familiar jasmine fragrance.

What is the difference between brown Hom Mali and white jasmine rice?
They are the same grain at different milling stages. Both are KDML 105 Hom Mali. White jasmine has had the bran layer polished away; brown Hom Mali retains it, which keeps the fibre, natural oils and minerals, gives a firmer and chewier texture, and adds a nutty note alongside the jasmine aroma. Brown Hom Mali also takes longer to cook — typically 35 to 45 minutes versus 15 to 20 for white.
How long does brown Hom Mali rice keep?
Shorter than white rice, because the retained bran contains natural oils that can oxidise. We recommend selling within 9 to 12 months of milling and storing below 25C in dry conditions. We ship current-crop stock and can align milling dates to your shipping schedule.
Is it available organic certified?
Yes. USDA NOP and EU Organic certified lots are available, subject to harvest allocation. Please specify certification requirements at the quotation stage so we can reserve certified stock.
What is the minimum order quantity?
One 20ft container, approximately 25 metric tons. Mixed containers combining brown Hom Mali with other varieties are possible for first orders — ask our export team for a mixed-load quotation.
