For rice importers worldwide, the CO serves three critical purposes: (1) confirming product authenticity; (2) qualifying the shipment for preferential tariff rates under trade agreements; and (3) satisfying customs clearance requirements in the destination country.

Every Thai rice CO contains: Exporter name and address (TBS Ricemill Company Limited, Phichit, Thailand); Consignee name and destination; Port of loading (Laem Chabang or Bangkok); Port of destination; Description of goods (e.g. "Thai White Rice 5% Broken, HS Code 1006.30"); Gross weight and net weight; Number and type of packages; Country of origin (Thailand); Certification statement and official stamp.
